Studio
A small team.
Enough to ship well.
Kaivon is a product studio — we build our own products, and we build for partners. What follows is what we believe, how we run a project, and the kinds of work we take on.
Philosophy
Five things we believe about how software should be made. They hold for our products and for yours.
- 01
Fewer, better.
Five things we're proud of beat fifty we're not. We pick scope carefully and ship at depth — whether it's ours or yours.
- 02
Taste compounds.
Every product we finish tunes our instincts for the next. The second version of an idea is worth more than the first, and the fifth than the third.
- 03
The reader is an adult.
Interfaces that hold the user's hand end up holding them back. We write copy, draw lines, and build flows that assume the person on the other end is paying attention.
- 04
Software is a kind of writing.
Code, copy, and layout are edits of the same manuscript. A well-written app reads like a well-edited essay — nothing extra, nothing missing.
- 05
Calm beats clever.
Cleverness photographs well and ages badly. We aim for quiet work that holds up on the hundredth use, not the first.
- 01
Conversation, not a brief.
Every project starts with a call. We want to understand the business, the users, and what you've already tried. No NDAs required for the first chat.
- 02
Scope before code.
A short paid discovery: we map the problem, sketch the smallest thing worth shipping, and give you a fixed scope and timeline. You can walk away after this with the document, no hard feelings.
- 03
Prototype before production.
One weekend of real use tells more truth than a month of meetings. We build a rough version early and use it together before committing the full build.
- 04
Ship small, ship often.
Weekly releases, a shared Linear board, and a standing call on Thursdays. You see progress; nothing saves up for a big-bang launch.
- 05
Keep shipping, or decide not to.
When the core is live, we move to a smaller retainer — for fixes, iterations, and the next build. Or we hand off a clean codebase and walk away.
What we take on
Not everything is for us, and we'll say so. When there's a fit, here's the shape of it.
Mobile apps
iOS and Android, React Native or native where it matters.
Web apps
B2B dashboards, internal tools, consumer apps, marketing sites.
MVPs for funded teams
Pre-seed to Series A. Fast, well-scoped, shippable.
Design systems
Tokens, components, docs — the library, not the coats of paint.
Technical audits
A second set of eyes on architecture, performance, or hiring.
Product leadership
Fractional PM/design/eng leadership for early teams.
Who is here
A founder, a small team of engineers and designers, and a few long-time collaborators who come in for specific work. Everything — product, design, code, QA — happens in-house.
